Lettle - Free Online Word Game: Solo Puzzles & Real-Time PvP

Lettle is a free online word game you can play right in your browser. No download and no costs. Solve the hidden five-letter word on your own across five single-player modes, or go head-to-head against a live opponent in a real-time multiplayer word battle. Whether you want one relaxing daily puzzle with your coffee or a competitive ladder to climb, Lettle turns quick word guessing into a game you can play against real people.

How to play Lettle

Every round hides one five-letter word, and you have six guesses to find it. After each guess the letter tiles change color: blue means the letter is correct and in the right spot, orange means the letter is in the word but belongs somewhere else, and gray means the letter does not appear at all. Use those clues to rule out possibilities and work your way toward the solution, guess by guess.

If you already know Wordle, you will feel at home immediately: Lettle is a free, Wordle-style word game that adds extra solo modes and a live head-to-head PvP twist you won't find in the original. New to this kind of puzzle? The interactive tutorial walks you through your first word in about two minutes.

Five solo word game modes

Solo puzzles are the heart of Lettle. With five modes there is something for everyone, from a single mindful puzzle per day to an all-out race against the clock.

Daily Word Puzzle

One new hidden word every day. Solve it to keep your daily streak alive, compare results with friends, and come back tomorrow for the next puzzle. Perfect as a small ritual with your morning coffee.

Zen

No timer, no score pressure, no limits. In Zen mode you can play a calm, untimed word puzzle whenever you like, to unwind, warm up, or try out new starter words.

Sprint

A pure speed run against the stopwatch: solve a short set of hidden words as fast as you can. Every run is timed and placed on the Sprint leaderboard. Your record run is even saved as a replay you can watch back or share to prove how fast you were.

Streak

How many words can you solve in a row without failing? Streak is the competitive endurance mode: runs are checked server-side and feed the leaderboard. That's why every single word counts here!

Bot Battle

Race a computer opponent to crack the same hidden word first in a casual best-of series. Bot Battle is great practice for multiplayer pacing. And the best part: it works offline too!

Online multiplayer: real-time PvP word battles

When you are ready for a real opponent, online mode is just the thing for you. Lettle's multiplayer pairs you with a live player and drops you both into the same puzzle: you race, guess by guess, to crack the hidden word first. You can even watch your opponent's progress live. Play a relaxed casual match, or jump into ranked duels and climb the Letter League, Lettle's competitive league with divisions and seasons. You can challenge friends directly, spectate their live games, and track your rating as you improve. Every duel plays out differently because no two players think about the same word the same way.

Word game tips and strategy

Strong openers make the biggest difference. Start with a word that covers several common vowels and consonants. Starter words like ARISE, SLATE, or CRANE test five frequent letters at once. Use your second guess to probe letters your first one missed instead of chasing an early blue hit. Pay close attention to orange tiles: the letter is in the word, just in a different spot! Eliminate ruthlessly: a gray letter removes hundreds of candidate words at once. And remember that letters can repeat. If a word feels impossible, try doubling a vowel or consonant you already confirmed.
